We continued surveying of the hills overlooking the
Akliman delta today.
The team is working together on field analysis, and we
are moving quickly. We documented a multi-period site
today at Akdogan, near the village of Bostancili. We
found Hellenistic (4th-1st c. BC), Byzantine (4th-12th c.
AD) and Ottoman (15th-19th c. AD) pottery.
Even though there was a dense scatter of pottery
(about 18,000 sherds/ha) we only collected 12 pieces and
recorded the rest of our sample with a digital
camera.
