Day 14
walking hard

The Journal of the
Black Sea Project

July 14, 1998

We are now working on the opposite side of the Karasu delta, and the Tepekoy Ridge was really interesting. The results were good, but all negative. That is, there was no evidence for settlement from the ridge to the valley, but that tells a story about land use and settlement patterns around the valley. Yet we walked tract after tract in the hot sun with no pottery on the surface. In the end we were happy to move on.

The group heading out of Tepekoy, not even waiting for the van.

Our last sight was this suspicious man, who was
just as happy to see us leave as we were to be going.
