Today we discovered a large hilltop Roman site
about six kilometers inland with a commanding view of the
Karasu valley. The settlement is several hundred meters
across, and will be a important example of an inland
village of this period.
It will be useful to compare the kinds of pottery used
in this inland site to the kinds used closer to the sea
and maritime trade. We have decided to put off further
investigations in this area for about ten days, after the
wheat has been harvested.
