The Voice of a New Generation

I am a native Thai and I know my name is a mouthful for native English speakers.  Most people just call me Soi.  I'm a graduate student at the University of Pennsylvania, specializing in Southeast Asian archaeology.  I joined the Ban Chiang Project in May of 1998 as a graduate research assistant. My task was to help describe the ceramic vessels from the 1974 and 1975 Ban Chiang excavations.

I completed my Master's Thesis in 2000. My thesis is on the chronology and stratigraphy of Ban Mai Chaimolgol, a bronze- and iron-age site located in central Thailand.

I have completed my fieldwork for my dissertation, and I'm currently preparing my first draft, entitled "Metal Age Complexity in Thailand: Socio-Politicial Development and Landscape Use in the Upper Chao Phraya Basin."
