This has been a very busy week and everyone has been working hard to finish up their assignments for the summer.  We scheduled a series of end of the year reports by the field teams, trench talks by the excavation teams and architecture talks by the architects, so that all members of the staff could be informed as to both the purposes for the work and the progress of the field teams.  Alissa Stoimenoff and Heather Kelly talk about the results of Trench A where they may have found a portion of the hippodrome floor (fig. 1).  Dylan Bloy and Sarah Ward talk about Trench B, the trench dug on the low embankment to the west of the hippodrome, where they encountered an ancient surface (fig. 2).  Alexis Belis talks about Trench C dug towards what may be the southern limit of the hippodrome (fig. 3) and Heather Kelly talks about Trench D that may have exposed a portion of the dromos floor of the stadium (fig. 4).  The architects talk about their work this summer, finishing the actual-state plan for the Greek stoa and moving on to working on the series of seats to the north of the stoa.  Pam Jordan speaks about the stoa plan (fig. 5) and the work at the seats (fig. 6).

We were very fortunate to have a visit by Mr and Mrs Karabots and their group on Tuesday afternoon.  Mr and Mrs Karabots have been generously sponsoring our work for all three of our summer field seasons and we are very grateful to them for their continuing support.  We give them all a tour of the site and then host a luncheon (fig. 7) in our Dining Palace where Mr. Nikos Kostopoulos, the former President of the Syllogos of the Village, presents Mr. and Mrs. Karabots with ribbons and tripods from the recent Lykaion Games as a token of our sincere appreciation of their interest in and support for our work (Fig.  8).

The last week of any excavation season is always busy with finishing up work in trenches and architecture as well as completing conservation, photography, illustrations and registration of objects.  The trench supervisors work on their final reports as well as finishing up their notebooks.   We have a final dinner on Friday night in Karitina that is enjoyed by all (figs. 9 and 10).

We are also fortunate that our Greek colleague and Co-Director, Dr. Anastasia Panagiotopoulou of the 5th Ephorate of Prehistoric and Classical Antiquities in Sparta is with us most of the week and she helps us with the transfer of antiquities to the Lykosura Museum.  Our Greek Archaeological Service colleague Angelike Tsingkou remains with us the entire season and we are grateful to her both for her work and her congeniality.

I thank all the participants of the project for their hard work and dedication to the project.
