Forces of Nature: Environmental Risk
and Resilience as Long-term Factors of Cultural Change
Saturday, February 2
2pm - 4pm

Today’s world appears to be in a state of constant and extreme change as human societies create and respond to environmental risk. Ancient societies, too, experienced changing environments. Our speakers in this program explore historical examples of
environmental risk, resilience, and catastrophe, from the Americas, East Africa, and West Asia.

Lectures and a discussion feature Dr. Neil Roberts, Professor in Physical Geography, University of Plymouth; Dr. Richard Redding, Associate Curator for Zooarchaeology, University of Michigan Museum of Anthropology; and Dr. Tim Kohler, Professor, Department of Anthropology, Washington State University.

Free with Museum admission donation. Information: 215/898-4890.
