Description | Woodblock print of battle from the Sino-Japanese War of 1894-5. Japanese soldiers in black Western-style uniforms charge in from the right hand side battling against Chinese troops in pastel Asian-style uniforms. In the foreground is the city wall. At the top right hand corner is an inscription in Japanese characters which gives the title: "The Destruction at Pyongyang" and in the opposite corner is the name of the artist and publisher: Nobumasa and Kobayashi Shujiro. Triptych with three sheets of paper glued together. |
