PHILADELPHIA, October 24, 2024—This holiday season, the Penn Museum offers meaningful ways for loved ones to get together while exploring cultures from around the world through family festivals, wellness experiences, and gift-giving.
Upcoming Family Events:
Winter Break—Thursday, December 26 through Saturday, December 28, 2024 from 10:00 am-4:00 pm Kids under 17 receive free admission during Winter Break, which offers three days of global adventures. Starting at 12:00 pm in the Cookie Zone, each guest will receive one free treat, while supplies last.
Kwanzaa—Sunday, December 29, 2024 from 12:00 pm-5:00 pm
Everyone receives free admission to Kwanzaa, celebrating African-American culture and traditions with children's activities, live performances, storytelling, Zawadi giveaways, and more. All activities are included as a part of the festival.
Gift Experiences
Up Late with the Sphinx
Best suited for children ages 6-12, Up Late features an after-hours experience with gallery activities, hands-on workshops, and a flashlight-led museum tour—in the dark.
Dates: Saturday, January 18, February 8, or March 1, 2025 from 5:00 pm-10:00 pm
Cost: $30 per person; $25 for Penn Museum Members
Mind & Mood Recharge
The perfect gift to kickstart a healthy 2025, Mind & Mood Recharge is an after-hours wellness experience with yoga in the galleries, sound baths, guided meditation, and art therapy. A Botanical Bar serves spirits and mocktails along with nutritious light bites.
Dates: First Wednesdays from December 4 to April 2, 2025 from 5:00 pm-8:00 pm
Cost: $18 for the general public, includes access to all Museum galleries and exhibitions
Penn Medicine patients and staff, PennCard holders, and Penn Museum Members receive free admission to Mind & Mood Recharge.
Ancient Alcohol: A Taste of Bygone Booze (Tour & Tasting)
Guests 21+ can explore cocktails throughout time, ancient Greek drinking games, and early wine vessels. Attendees can explore the rest of the Penn Museum before or after the tour.
Dates: Saturday, January 11 and January 18, 2025 from 2:00-3:30 pm
Cost: $35 for the general public; $28 Penn Museum Members
Penn Museum Shop
In addition to The Shop’s participation in Museum Store Sunday on December 1 with 20% off all merchandise (using code: MSS2024!!), artisanal gifts inspired by the Penn Museum’s collections —from jewelry to toys to treats—will be 10% off online by using the code Holiday2024!10! or when mentioning the sale in person from December 3-31, 2024. In addition, online shoppers will receive free shipping with a minimum order of $50 on Museum Store Sunday.
Penn Museum Membership
With unlimited general admission for one full year, access to previews, and discounts, such as 10% off at the Museum Café. Individual memberships begin at $65. Household memberships (including two adults and two children) are $110. More information is available here.
Holiday Hours
The Penn Museum will be closed December 23-25, December 30-31, and January 1, 2025.

The Penn Museum is open Tuesday-Sunday, 10:00 am-5:00 pm. It is open until 8:00 pm on first Wednesdays of the month. The Café is open Tuesday-Thursday, 9:00 am-3:00 pm and Friday and Saturday, 10:00 am-3:00 pm. On Sundays, the Café is open 10:30 am-2:30 pm.
